AGA main PCB (TEK/Tekelek) failure

Occasional issue — here is how we diagnose it, which parts are usually involved, and when to call a pro.

  • Occasional
  • Professional repair only
  • Cast Iron Range

Symptoms

What you will notice

  • Recurring relay or triac codes after component replacement
  • Watchdog faults 002 / 006
  • VE code — firmware too old
  • Multiple zones behaving erratically

Likely causes

What is usually behind it

  • Relay short circuit (110–116) or open circuit (150–156) recurringcommon
  • Triac fault (130–136) with a good element and correct firmwarecommon
  • Firmware below 6.1 with a newer user panel (VE)occasional

Diagnostics

How a technician diagnoses it

Our technicians follow the factory diagnostic path for this fault.

  1. 1Rule out the element and thermocouple first — most triac codes are element faults, not board faults.
  2. 2Check firmware version on the TEK Vision Firmware tab.
  3. 3Always do a mains voltage and polarity check: the TEK PCB will not work with reversed polarity.
  4. 4Replacement is a complete PCB tray: remove the magnetic plinth, remove two screws each side of the tray, pull the tray out, transfer all cables in the correct order and torque to spec.

Safety & DIY disclaimer

Guides on this site are for information only. Appliance repair involves 240V electricity, gas connections, refrigerant and heavy cast-iron parts — anything you do yourself is at your own risk and can damage the appliance or cause injury. The safe option is to book a qualified technician.
