- Hotcupboard cold
- Neon indicator on but no heat
- Takes far longer than 40 minutes to stabilise from cold

## What is usually behind it

- 400W boost element or 200W maintain element failed (most common)
- Preset thermostat or overheat limit thermostat failed (common)
- Push-button switch assembly failed (less common)

## How a technician diagnoses it

1. The hotcupboard does not draw heat from the parent AGA and is not on the eR7 electronic control — it has its own elements, preset thermostat and limit thermostat.
2. Element access: remove the cast-iron dividing shelf, lift the rear grid upwards, remove the two element screws and pull the element to the right to expose the connections.
3. Thermostat, overheat thermostat and switch assembly access: remove the four chrome buttons and stay nuts and prop the top plate, taking care to avoid enamel damage.
4. Normal behaviour: from cold, approximately 40 minutes to a stabilised temperature.
