- Flame-failure device / thermocouple dirty or failed (most common)
- Blocked burner ports or jets (common)
- Ignition electrode dirty or cracked (common)
- Low gas pressure (less common)

## How a technician diagnoses it

1. Hold the control knob in for several seconds to let the flame sensor heat up and hold the safety device in.
2. Clean the burner head and ports; confirm the burner head is correctly located.
3. Clean the ignition electrode.
4. Verify supply pressure and confirm other gas appliances in the property work.
